Dixon awarded IndyCar pole at IowaNewton, IA (Sports Network) - Scott Dixon will start from the pole for Sunday's Iowa Corn Indy 250 at the Iowa Speedway after rain cancelled qualifying. Starting alongside Dixon will be Helio Castroneves, who trails Dixon in the standings by 35 points. The Brazilian has seven top-five finishes in seven starts this season, but despite being fourth all-time with 12 victories, has yet to win a race in 2008.
Dixon's Target Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Dan Wheldon (-67) and Andretti
Green Racing's Tony Kanaan (-80) will make up row two. In last year's inaugural event, Dario Franchitti avoided numerous accidents to edge out AGR teammate Marco Andretti. This is the first of six races in six weeks that should give us a clearer view on the championship. The race is scheduled to drop the green flag on Sunday at 1 p.m. (et).
