Second day qualifying for Indy a washoutIndianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - An all-day rain ended the second day of Indianapolis 500 qualifying even before it began. No drivers were able to take to the track. Qualifying for positions 12-33 will restart next Saturday, the third of four scheduled days of qualifying. One week from today is "Bump Day" and the 92nd running of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for Sunday, May 25th at 1 p.m. (et). On Saturday, the top-11 positions, including the pole winner, were determined. Target Chip Ganassi driver Scott Dixon captured the pole for the 2008 Indianapolis 500 with teammate Dan Wheldon taking second. Dixon's No.9 Dallara Honda circled the 2.5-mile speedway four times at an average speed of 226.366 m.p.h. The pole victory was Dixon's first at Indianapolis. It was Dixon's third pole win of the season and 11th of his IndyCar career. "This is unbelievable, what a day," said Dixon. "We had a pretty good plan all morning and as a team, Target, we dominated." The third member of the front row with Dixon and Wheldon is Ryan Briscoe. The second row is made up of Helio Castroneves, Danica Patrick and Tony Kanaan.
