Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Former F1 driver Justin Wilson captured the provisional pole for Sunday's Grand Prix of Portland. The No.9 Rocketsports Racing driver posted a winning time of 58.000 seconds (121.903 m.p.h.) which was more than two-tenths faster than the competition.

The provisional pole earned Wilson one championship point and a guaranteed position on the front row for the race.

Another former F1 driver, Robert Doornbos, was second quickest with a time of 58.214 seconds.

Three-time series champion and current points leader Sebastien Bourdais (58.308) was third quickest with Alex Tagliani (58.363) and Tristan Gommendy (58.399) completing the top-five.

Paul Tracy returned to the track after missing two races with a back injury following a practice crash in Long Beach, CA. Oriol Servia substituted for Tracy and finished second and fourth in his two starts with the No.3 Forsythe Championship Racing team. Servia will also drive in the race as a teammate to Tracy in the No.7 car.

The second round of qualifying is set for Saturday at 5 p.m. (et) with the race scheduled to drop the green flag on Sunday at 4 p.m. (et).
