Astros activate IF Castillo

Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - The Houston Astros added Jose Castillo to the active roster Friday and outrighted infielder J.R. House to Triple-A Round Rock.

Castillo, a utility player with experience at second, short and third base, was claimed on waivers from the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old hit .244 with six home runs and 35 runs batted in over 112 games for the Giants this season. In five seasons with the Giants and Pirates, Castillo batted .253 with 39 homers and 216 RBI in 577 career games.

House was hitless in three at-bats for Houston since having his contract purchased August 16.
