Atlanta's Hampton strains hamstringAtlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Atlanta Braves pitcher Mike Hampton strained his right hamstring recently in the Mexican Winter League. The oft-injured Hampton has missed the last two seasons with left elbow injuries.
This past April, the 35-year-old lefty underwent season-ending surgery to
repair a torn flexor tendon in his left elbow. Hampton underwent "Tommy John" surgery nearly two years ago, causing him to miss all of the 2006 season. He hasn't been healthy since May of 2005, when he began feeling discomfort that eventually led to the surgery. Hampton owns a career record of 138-101 with a 3.97 ERA in 375 games with Seattle, Houston, the Mets, Colorado and Atlanta.
