D-Backs use long ball to double up GiantsPhoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Eric Byrnes hit a two-run home run to help the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 4-2 win over the San Francisco Giants in the opener of a two-game set. Orlando Hudson and Mark Reynolds each hit solo homers for the Diamondbacks, who have won five of their last six games. Micah Owings (4-0) won his fourth start of the season as he gave up two runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings of work. Owings also went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Fred Lewis hit a solo home run while Jose Castillo drove in the other run for
the Giants, who have dropped four of their last six games. Kevin Correia (1-3)
got the loss as he gave up three runs on eight hits in six innings of work. The Giants grabbed the lead in the second inning as Aaron Rowand led off with a double, moved to third on a John Bowker ground out and crossed the plate courtesy of a Castillo single for a 1-0 lead. Arizona answered, though, in the bottom of the second as Reynolds blasted a 3-1 pitch into the left field seats to tie the contest. San Francisco again took the advantage in the third as Lewis led off the frame by belting the first pitch he saw over the right-center wall for a 2-1 advantage. The Diamondbacks grabbed the lead in the fifth. Owings led off the inning with a soft single to center and, after Chris Young flied out, Byrnes ripped a 1-0 fastball over the left field wall for a 3-2 lead. Arizona padded its lead in the seventh on a solo home run from Hudson for a 4-2 advantage. Tony Pena retired the Giants in order in the eighth while Brandon Lyon worked around a two-out single in the ninth to pick up his fourth save of the season. Game Notes Rowand finished 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a run scored...Arizona left eight men on base while San Francisco stranded six runners...Attendance was 22,097.
