Diamondbacks place Upton on DLPhoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Arizona Diamondbacks placed outfielder Justin Upton on the 15-day disabled list Friday with a left oblique strain. Upton has been out since July 9 since suffering the strain taking batting practice in Washington. He will be eligible to return July 24.
The 20-year-old Upton got off to a torrid start at the plate this season, but
has cooled off since with a .242 average, 11 home runs and 31 RBI in 83 games. Newly re-acquired first baseman Tony Clark replaces Upton on the 25-man roster.
