Diamondbacks shake up benchPhoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Arizona Diamondbacks made a set of roster moves to shuffle up their bench on Friday, recalling infielders Alex Romero and Emilio Bonifacio from Triple-A Tucson. Romero played in 29 games with Arizona earlier this season, batting .229 with a pair of doubles and three runs batted in. The 24-year-old was tearing up the Pacific Coast League before his call-up, batting .333 in 39 games.
Bonifacio, 23, has spent the entire season with Tucson, hitting .302 with 17
stolen bases and 49 runs scored. To make room for Romero and Bonifacio, the D-Backs optioned pitcher Connor Robertson to Tucson and designated outfielder Jeff Salazar for assignment. Salazar struggled to a .202 average with a pair of home runs and 10 RBI in 58 games, while Robertson allowed a run in four innings over two relief appearances.
