Drew's four-hit day leads BoSox past Phils

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - J.D. Drew tied a career high with four hits including an early three-run homer, and drove in four as Boston cruised past Philadelphia, 7-4, in the finale of a three-game interleague set at Citizens Bank Park.

Mike Lowell homered and scored twice, Dustin Pedroia picked up three hits and Brandon Moss added a key two-run single for the Red Sox, who have won four of their last five.

Justin Masterson (4-1) picked up the win for Boston, going five innings and yielding only four hits and two runs.

Pedro Feliz had two RBI while Ryan Howard and Jayson Werth knocked in a run each for the Phillies, who have dropped four of five.

Kyle Kendrick (6-3) was dented for six hits and six runs in three innings in the loss.

After falling behind by five, the Phillies mounted a small comeback in the seventh inning. Against Craig Hansen, pinch-hitter Eric Bruntlett dribbled a single to short, then Carlos Ruiz walked. Both moved up on a wild pitch and scored on a Feliz pinch-hit single which cut the deficit to 7-4. Manny Delcarmen entered and walked Jimmy Rollins but got the next three batters to quell the rally.

Delcarmen retired the side in order in the eighth and Jonathan Papelbon did the same in the ninth for his 21st save and second in consecutive games.

The Sox got to Kendrick early, putting up four runs in the first inning before he recorded an out. Jacoby Ellsbury and Pedroia singled and Drew unloaded a three-run blast to right-center. Lowell followed with a solo shot to left before the next three batters were retired.

Philly got a run back in the home half as Shane Victorino worked a one-out walk and scored on Howard's two-out hit to left.

In the second, the Phils had two on with one out, but Kendrick's sacrifice attempt was snared by Sean Casey who threw to second for an inning-ending double play.

Moss' two-run single with two outs in the third boosted Boston's lead to 6-1, then Drew's base hit in the fourth tacked on the visitors' seventh run.

Greg Dobbs and Ruiz singled to start the home fifth, and Werth's fielder's choice RBI gave the Phils their second run of the contest.

Game Notes

Boston has won seven of the last nine meetings overall, as well as seven of the last nine in Philly since 2005...It was the ninth time the Sox have hit back-to-back homers this season...Moss batted for Red Sox starting center fielder Coco Crisp, who exited the game in the third due to discomfort in his left hand...Despite the loss, the final four Phillies pitchers allowed only three hits and fanned six over the last four innings...The Red Sox begin a six-game homestand by welcoming the Cardinals on Friday, while the Phillies also continue their interleague slate by hosting the Angels Friday.
