over six innings, striking out six. Chad Qualls, Tony Pena and Brandon Lyon

Adam Eaton (0-1) allowed six runs on five hits in four innings, taking his first loss of the year after no-decisions in his first six starts. After surrendering a first inning run, Eaton settled down into the fourth, when a lack of control cost him five runs. Augie Ojeda lined out to center, but Eaton issued a four-pitch walk to Johnson, forcing in the tying run and Young grounded into a fielder's choice to plate Reynolds. Drew fell behind 1-2, but golfed a fastball that bounced into the pool area beyond the wall in right center to put the D'Backs up 6-2 before Eaton retired Eric Byrnes on a liner to center. The Phillies pulled a run back in the bottom of the fifth, as Victorino walked with one out and came around to score when Bruntlett sliced a double to the corner in right. Werth brought Philadelphia within two in the sixth, leading off by crushing a homer over the batter's eye in center. Rudy Seanez, Tom Gordon and Chad Durbin combined to allow just two hits over four scoreless innings, but the Phils couldn't muster a comeback against the Arizona bullpen. Carlos Ruiz picked up a one-out, pinch hit single off Lyon in the ninth, and after pinch-hitter Greg Dobbs flew out, Victorino ripped a single to right that moved Ruiz to third. But, Bruntlett flew out to foul territory in right as the D'Backs held on for the win. Young doubled to lead off the home first, and moved to third on Byrnes' one- out infield single that saw Byrnes end up at second after a throwing error by Pedro Feliz. Jackson grounded a single up the middle to plate Young, but Eaton avoided further damage.
