Figgins to be activated on FridayAnaheim, CA (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will activate third baseman Chone Figgins from the 15-day disabled list on Friday. Infielder Brandon Wood was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday to make room for Figgins. The 30-year-old Figgins has missed 33 games because of two stays on the DL with a strained right hamstring. He suffered the injury sliding into home plate on May 3 against Baltimore. He is batting .306 with 19 runs, seven runs batted in and six doubles in 33 games for Anaheim this season.
In three rehab appearances at Salt Lake, Figgins was 2-for-10 with two runs
scored. In 29 games with the Angels in 2008 Wood is batting .125 with five runs, two RBI, a homer and a double. This marks the third time this season that he has been optioned to Triple-A, where he is batting .270 with nine home runs and 23 RBI.
