Gagne relieved of closing duties for BrewersMilwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Milwaukee Brewers manager Ned Yost announced before Sunday's 5-3 win over St. Louis that Eric Gagne had been relieved of his closer duties and will approach the ends of games with a closer-by- committee. Gagne, 32, signed a one-year contract in the offseason after splitting last season with the Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox. The 2003 National League Cy Young Award-winner, Gagne (1-2) has recorded nine saves this season, but also has blown five while sporting a 6.89 earned run average in 17 games for Milwaukee. Brian Shouse notched his first save of the season on Sunday.
