Haren wins NL Pitcher of Month

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Dan Haren was named the National League Pitcher of the Month for June on Wednesday.

Haren went 3-0 with a 1.32 earned-run average in June, recording 36 strikeouts in 41 innings. Acquired in an offseason trade from Oakland, the 27-year-old allowed only six earned runs on 25 hits, throwing at least seven innings in five of his six starts for the month.

This was the second monthly award for Haren, who won the same honor in May 2007.

Other pitchers receiving votes were Kyle Lohse of the St. Louis Cardinals, who went 5-0 with a 3.00 ERA, Milwaukee's Manny Parra, who went 5-0 with a 2.59 ERA, and San Diego's Heath Bell, who went 4-0 with a 1.88 ERA.
