Kearns back with NationalsWashington, DC (Sports Network) - The Washington Nationals activated right fielder Austin Kearns from the 15-day disabled list Thursday. The 28-year-old was placed on the DL with a right elbow pain on May 22. In the meantime, he underwent surgery to remove loose particles in the elbow and just completed a seven-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus.
Before suffering the injury, Kearns was in the midst of a season-long slump,
hitting just .187 with three home runs and 16 runs batted in through 42
games. In a related move, the team optioned utility player Kory Casto to Columbus.
