Lowell finalizes deal with Red Sox

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox have finalized a contract to keep third baseman and World Series MVP Mike Lowell.

Sources indicate there should be an announcement later Tuesday. The Boston Herald reported Tuesday that it's a three-year contract worth $37.5 million.

The 33-year-old Lowell was reportedly being courted by at least one other team -- possibly the New York Yankees -- willing to offer a four-year deal.

Lowell batted a career-high .324 last season with 21 homers and 120 RBI last season. The 10-year veteran has a career .280 average with 184 home runs and 778 RBI with the New York Yankees, Florida and Boston.
