Mets P Maine exits game earlyPhiladelphia, PA (Sports Network) - New York Mets starting pitcher John Maine left Saturday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies in the sixth inning with an apparent injury to his non-throwing arm. With the game tied 3-3 and Ryan Howard at the plate, Maine clutched his left forearm just below the elbow after two straight pitches. Maine attempted a warm-up pitch, but grabbed the arm again and was lifted for reliever Aaron Heilman, who fanned Howard to end the frame.
Maine had allowed just one hit prior to exiting -- a three-run home run by
Howard in the fourth -- and as he exited with the bases empty, the right-
hander was not in line for a decision.
