Mets score three in ninth to edge ArizonaPhoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Jose Reyes drove in a pair of runs and New York scored three times in the ninth to top Arizona, 5-2, in the final installment of three from Chase Field. David Wright homered and Marlon Anderson added an RBI for the Mets, who took two of three in the series and have won three of five. Jorge Sosa (4-1) recorded two outs in the eighth to earn the win, and Billy Wagner recorded his seventh save. Starter Johan Santana went six innings, allowing six hits and one run with eight strikeouts and four walks. "It was a big positive for us," Wright said, "These guys are one of the elite teams in the National League, so to get two out of three and go out there and get him (Haren) out of the game as early as we did was a positive, Johan (Santana) was excellent, and the bullpen came in and did a good job." Mark Reynolds and Chris Snyder each collected two hits and knocked in a run for the D-Backs, who have alternated losses and wins in their last five games. Chad Qualls (0-2) was charged in the loss with three hits and three runs -- one earned -- in the fateful ninth inning. Dan Haren turned in a solid start for Arizona, giving up two runs on just three hits while fanning seven in six innings. New York pushed across the winning runs in the ninth thanks to a defensive miscue. Carlos Beltran and Moises Alou hit back-to-back singles off Qualls to begin the inning. Carlos Delgado rolled a grounder to Conor Jackson at first, and his throw to get an out at second sailed wild and high into left, allowing Beltran to score. Brian Schneider's sac bunt moved both runners up, and Luis Castillo was walked intentionally to load the bases. Anderson laced a single to right to make it 4-2, and Reyes followed with a sacrifice fly for a three-run bulge. Qualls recovered to get Ryan Church swinging to end the inning. Wagner set down the side in order to close out the contest. The Mets dented Haren for single runs in the third and fourth frames, on a Reyes RBI single and Wright's leadoff home run. "I knew coming it that any mistake that I made would be costly,"said Haren. "I'm a little mad that I laid one into Wright, and he made me pay, but besides that I felt really good, I felt good even toward the end. I knew it was going to be tight, and a fluke thing happened there and I did'nt come out on top." Arizona countered in the home half on Snyder's run-scoring triple, then tied the game in the seventh when Reynolds singled in a run off Joe Smith. Juan Cruz worked out of a jam in the eighth, retiring Wright on a pop up with runners on first and second.
