Nationals recall Bergmann from minors

Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - The Washington Nationals recalled right-hander Jason Bergmann from Triple-A Columbus following Wednesday's 5-3 win over the New York Mets.

To make room, Washington optioned right-hander Chris Schroder to Columbus. Schroder had a 2.25 ERA in three appearances with the Nationals this season.

Bergmann is expected to start in Thursday's game at Shea Stadium. The 26-year- old made three appearances -- two starts -- earlier this season for the Nationals, but compiled an 11.68 ERA and 0-1 record in 12 1/3 innings.

After being sent down to Triple-A, he went 2-2 with a 3.72 ERA in five starts with Columbus.
