Nats place closer Cordero on disabled listSt. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The Washington Nationals have placed closer Chad Cordero on the 15-day disabled list due to right shoulder tendinitis, the team announced Friday. The move was made retroactive to March 27 for Cordero, who has not appeared in a regular season game this season.
The 26-year-old right-hander saved 37 games for the Nationals in 2007, posting
a 3.36 earned run average in 76 games. The 20th overall pick in the 2003
draft, Cordero has compiled 128 saves and a 2.79 ERA in 299 relief appearances
over five seasons with the Washington/Montreal franchise. Jon Rauch is filling Cordero's role at the back end of the bullpen while the Cal State-Fullerton product is on the shelf.
