Orioles P Hoey has season-ending surgeryBaltimore, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Orioles announced on Wednesday that right-handed relief pitcher Jim Hoey underwent season-ending surgery on his pitching shoulder. The surgery, performed on May 4, was a successful arthroscopic procedure performed by Dr. Andrew Cosgarea.
Hoey, who has been on the disabled list since spring training, had also missed
almost all of the 2004 and 2005 seasons after ligament replacement surgery in
his right elbow. A 25-year-old native of Trenton, New Jersey, Hoey went 3-5 with an 8.13 earned-run average in 35 games over with Baltimore in 2006 and 2007.
