Padres activate Edmonds from DLSan Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Padres activated outfielder Jim Edmonds from the 15-day disabled list, allowing to him to play in Saturday's contest against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The club placed Edmonds on the disabled list, retroactive to March 21, with a strained right calf.
The Cardinals traded the eight-time Gold Glove winner, and four-time All-Star
outfielder to the Padres in the offseason, in exchange for 24-year-old third
baseman David Freese. To make room for Edmonds on the roster, outfielder Jody Gerut was optioned to Triple-A Portland of the International League.
