Phillies' Zagurski has successful surgeryCincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Phillies announced that pitcher Mike Zagurski underwent successful left ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery on Thursday. The procedure, better known as Tommy John surgery, was performed by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama, and the recovery time is expected to be up to one year.
The left-handed Zagurski was originally placed on the 15-day disabled list
during spring training while recovering from right hamstring surgery,
performed last August. Zagurski went 1-0 with a 5.91 earned run average and 21 strikeouts in 25 appearances for the Phillies in 2007.
