Phils acquire veteran P Eyre

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired veteran reliever Scott Eyre from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for minor league pitcher Brian Schlitter.

The left-handed Eyre, 36, had appeared in only 19 games for the Cubs this season due to two separate stints on the disabled list for left elbow inflammation and a strained left groin. He was 2-0 with a 7.15 earned run average with 14 strikeouts in 11.1 innings.
