Rangers activate OF Byrd from DL

Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers activated veteran outfielder Marlon Byrd from the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday.

Byrd, who was on the shelf with inflammation in his left knee, was batting just .129 with a run batted in over 13 games for the Rangers before going down with the injury.

To make room on the roster for Byrd, Texas optioned infielder Travis Metcalf to Triple-A Oklahoma.
