Rangers make several movesArlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers activated pitcher Eddie Guardado from the 15-day disabled list and placed pitcher Luis Mendoza on the DL on Friday. Guardado had been on the DL since April 12 (retroactive to April 6) with left shoulder soreness. A two-time All-Star, he made two appearances this season and allowed two hits over 1 1/3 innings. Now in his 16th season, the 37-year-old has 183 career saves in 798 appearances with a 4.31 earned run average. Mendoza, who took Guardado's spot on the roster, is suffering from right shoulder inflammation and his DL stint will be retroactive to April 24. In three appearances he has give up 10 runs in 9 2/3 innings. Also on Friday, the team recalled catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia from Triple-A Oklahoma and released catcher Adam Melhuse. Saltalamacchia made his debut in the majors last season and batted .266 with 11 home runs and 33 RBI in 93 games between Atlanta and Texas. He was acquired from Atlanta in a trade last July 31. Melhuse made eight appearances for Texas this season and batted .200 with one run driven in.
