Reds fire GM Krivsky, turn to JockettyCincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds have fired general manager Wayne Krivsky, and will replace him with former Cardinals GM Walt Jocketty, the club announced Wednesday. Krivsky is out after a little more than two years on the job. The Reds are off to a 9-12 start entering play Wednesday in their first season under new manager Dusty Baker.
Krivsky, 53, came to Cincinnati from Minnesota, where he served as an
assistant GM for the Twins. He inherited a Reds team that went 73-89 in 2005
and, though the club improved to 80-82 in his first season as GM, Cincinnati
went 72-90 last season. Krivsky was in the final year of the initial three-
year contract he signed in 2006. The man replacing Krivsky is the one who helmed the front office of division-rival St. Louis for 13 years. Jocketty led the Cardinals to seven playoff appearances as vice president and GM, highlighted by a World Series win in 2006. The Cardinals fired Jocketty after last season, and he soon caught on with the Reds, as a special advisor to the president and CEO.
