Reds put SS Gonzalez on DLCincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Cincinnati Reds shortstop Alex Gonzalez was put on the 15-day disabled list on Monday due to a left knee injury. The move is retroactive to March 21. The Reds also made two other DL moves with right-hander Matt Belisle (right forearm) and catcher David Ross (lower back). Belisle's placement on the DL is retroactive to March 21, while Ross is retroactive to March 30 .
Cincinnati also designated left-handed reliever Mike Stanton for assignment.
Stanton logged a 4.50 ERA in six spring training outings. Last season, Stanton
went 1-3 with a 5.93 ERA in 69 appearances for the Reds. The team also designated pitcher Jon Coutlangus for assignment, purchased the contracts of catcher Paul Bako, pitchers Johnny Cueto, Mike Lincoln, Kent Mercker, and outfielder Corey Patterson from Triple-A Louisville prior to Cincinnati's season-opening 4-2 home loss to Arizona.
