Reds take SS Hairston off DLToronto, ON (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds activated shortstop Jerry Hairston Jr. from the 15-day disabled list on Thursday. Hairston has been out since June 10 with a fractured left thumb.
The 32-year-old has a .336 average with one home run and 14 RBI over 40 games.
In addition, he has also stolen 12 bases. To make room for Hairston, the Reds optioned shortstop Paul Janish to Triple-A Louisville. Janish was batting .188 (12-for-64) with five RBI in 31 contests.
