Royals P Bale breaks hand

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Kansas City Royals starting left-handed pitcher John Bale, already on the 15-day disabled list with a tight pitching shoulder, suffered a broken right hand after punching a door at the team's hotel on Friday night.

Bale, who is off to an 0-3 start with a 7.63 ERA in three games this season, told the club of discomfort in his right hand on Saturday night. X-rays then confirmed the fracture.

The 33-year-old returned to Kansas City and will be examined by team doctors next week.
