Royals claim C Pena from Braves

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - The Kansas City Royals claimed catcher Brayan Pena off outright waivers from the Atlanta Braves on Friday.

The 26-year old appeared in 14 games for Atlanta this season hitting .286 (4-for-14) with one extra base hit, all as a pinch hitter.

Pena is a career .228 hitter in parts of four seasons with Atlanta accumulating two home runs and 12 runs batted in.

To make room for Pena on the 40-man roster, the team transferred pitcher Luke Hudson to the 60-day disabled list.
