Scott leads Orioles over Mariners

Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Luke Scott went 3-for-3 with a run scored and two driven in as the Baltimore Orioles downed the Seattle Mariners, 6-4, in the second of a four-game set at Camden Yards.

Melvin Mora had three hits and a run scored while Matt Albers (1-0) got the win for pitching 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the Orioles, who have won their past three games. Adam Loewen started on the mound and was charged with four runs on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings of work.

Jose Vidro and Jose Lopez each hit two-run homers for the Mariners, who have dropped three of their last four games. Miguel Batista (0-1) got the loss as he gave up five runs -- four earned -- on seven hits in five innings.

The Mariners grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second inning as Adrian Beltre led off with a walk and, two batters later, Vidro hit the first pitch he saw over the left field fence.

Baltimore tied the game in the fourth. Kevin Millar led off with a double and Scott chased him home with a double to right-center. Ramon Hernandez then hit a ball to shortstop and Yuniesky Betancourt misplayed the ball, allowing Scott to score.

Seattle again took the lead in the fifth as Betancourt led off with a single and Lopez deposited an 0-1 pitch over the left field wall for a 4-2 advantage.

However, the Orioles plated three runners in the bottom of the fifth for a 5-4 lead. With the bases loaded, Aubrey Huff drew a walk to force home Mora. Scott then punched a single to center and Nick Markakis crossed the plate before Hernandez's sacrifice fly scored Millar.

Baltimore padded its lead in the seventh as Adam Jones' sac fly plated Millar for a 6-4 advantage.

Chad Bradford retired the Mariners in order in the eighth while George Sherrill repeated the feat in the ninth to pick up his third save on the young season.
