Yanks shuffle roster; Moeller joins clubSt. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - The New York Yankees made a number of roster moves Monday in an effort to help their injured catching corps and depleted bullpen. Starting catcher Jorge Posada is still bothered by a shoulder problem that limits his ability to throw and backup Jose Molina injured a hamstring on Sunday, forcing the club to purchase the contract of Chad Moeller from Triple- A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
In addition, pitcher Joba Chamberlain was placed on the bereavement list after
he left the team to be with his ailing father in Nebraska. Pitcher Jonathan
Albaladejo, who started the season with the club before Andy Pettitte came off
the disabled list, was recalled from Scranton to help fill the bullpen void. The Yankees also placed infielder Wilson Betemit on the 15-day disabled list because of pink eye, and transferred pitcher Humberto Sanchez to the 60-day disabled list. Betemit had played sparingly this season, appearing in just six games with a batting average of .154 in 13 at-bats.
