Texas pitcher Eyre to have Tommy John surgeryArlington, TX (Sports Network) - Texas Ranges righthander Willie Eyre will have Tommy John surgery on Monday and will miss the entire 2008 season. Eyre landed on the disabled list August 17 with elbow stiffness, but an MRI on Thursday showed a partial ligament tear in his right elbow.
The 29-year-old was 4-6 with a 5.16 earned run average in 33 games --
including two starts -- with the Rangers this season. He had been used
predominantly as a middle reliever. Dr. Keith Meister, the Rangers team physician, is scheduled to perform the surgery.
