Twins place IF Tolbert on DL

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Twins placed rookie infielder Matt Tolbert on the 15-day disabled list Friday with a torn ligament in his left thumb.

Tolbert, who is hitting .265 with three runs batted in through 30 games this season, suffered the injury diving into first base in his last at-bat on Thursday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

To take Tolbert's spot on the 25-man roster, the Twins will select the contract of infielder Howie Clark from Triple-A Rochester.
