Uggla powers Fish past Padres


Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Dan Uggla finished 3-for-4 with two doubles, a solo home run, three runs batted in and three runs scored as the Florida Marlins crushed the San Diego Padres, 10-3, in the rubber match of a three- game set.

Mike Jacobs also went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Marlins, who have won just two of their last six contests. Matt Treanor ended with two RBI and Hanley Ramirez was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.

Andrew Miller (2-2) got the win after he went six innings and gave up just two runs on four hits.

Adrian Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run for San Diego, which has dropped 3-of-4. No other Padre had two hits, although Josh Bard ended with two RBI.

Greg Maddux (2-3) was denied his bid for win No. 350, as he got shelled for five runs -- four earned -- on 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings of work.

The Padres drew first blood, as Scott Hairston led off the second with a double, moved to third on Jim Edmonds' ground out and touched home on Bard's groundout.

Uggla tied the game in the home second with a lead off home run to left- center.

Gonzalez put San Diego back on top, 2-1, with his eighth home run in the third inning.

Jacobs started the home fourth with a single, two batters later, Uggla made it second and third with a double. Luis Gonzalez was issued an intentional walk to load the bases before Treanor singled to plate Jacobs. The next batter, Justin Miller, had an RBI groundout to put the Marlins up 3-2 after four innings.

Florida tacked on a couple more runs in the sixth. Gonzalez got on base with a single and moved to third on Treanor's single. After pinch-hitter Alfredo Amezaga popped out, Cody Ross singled to score Gonzalez and Brian Giles' fielding error allowed Treanor to come home the Marlins were up by three through six frames.

Glendon Rusch took the mound for the Padres in the seventh and walked lead-off man Ramirez, then surrendered an RBI double to Jacobs. Jorge Cantu was called out on strikes, Uggla was intentionally walked and Gonzalez cracked a single to load the bases. Treanor worked a walk to plate Wes Helms, pinch-running for Jacobs.

Wilfredo Ledezma then came on in relief of Rusch and got Amezaga to ground into an RBI force out. The Marlins claimed an 8-2 lead after seven innings of baseball.

The Marlins added some more insurance in the eighth. Ramirez led off with a walk, Cantu managed a single and both advanced on a passed ball from Bard. Uggla scored both runners with a double to left. Florida inflated its cushion to 10-2 heading into the ninth.

Justin Miller toed the rubber for Florida in the ninth and got Hairston to fly out. Edmonds managed a single and scored on Bard's double. Callix Crabbe made it first and second with a walk, but pinch-hitter Tony Clark grounded into a double play to end the game.

Game Notes

San Diego hasn't won back-to-back games since April 13-15 and have not won a series since taking two of three from the Los Angeles Dodgers from April 11-13...Attendance was 11,422.
