Young's two HRs carry Arizona over Rockies

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Chris Young hit two home runs and had three RBI to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 7-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

Conor Jackson and went 3-for-5 and drove in a run for Arizona, which has taken two in a row from the Rockies after dropping its previous two in Cincinnati. Justin Upton went 3-for-5 with a solo homer, while Stephen Drew was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Brandon Webb (2-0) earned the win by throwing seven strong innings and only surrendering two runs -- one earned -- on five hits.

Todd Helton homered and Chris Iannetta had the other RBI for the Rockies, who have dropped four in a row after scoring an opening day win at St. Louis. Jeff Francis (0-1) was roughed up for five runs on 12 hits in 6 1/3 innings, and was dealt the loss.

Before the game, the Rockies unfurled their National League championship banner from 2007.

The first batter of the game, Young, drilled a 2-2 fastball over the wall in left-center. Helton, though, tied the game with a shot over the right field wall on a 2-1 sinker in the bottom half of the first.

Facing a full count in the top of the second inning, Upton put the Diamondbacks up 2-1 with a homer to center.

An Iannetta fielder's choice grounder to second base scored Brad Hawpe, who had reached base on a walk earlier in the bottom of the second, and tied the game at two.

An Eric Byrnes double in the fifth turned into a run two batters later when Jackson smacked a double to left field that scored Byrnes and put Arizona up 3-2.

Young's blast to left field with two outs in the sixth gave the Diamondbacks a 5-2 lead. Drew, who reached on a fielder's choice, scored on the shot.

In the eighth, Arizona loaded the bases and Orlando Hudson then reached on a throwing error by pitcher Kip Wells, allowing Drew to score. With Mark Reynolds batting, Wells threw a wild pitch that Salazar scored on to make it 7-2.

A Helton ground-rule double, Matt Holliday single and Hawpe walk led to a bases loaded situation in the bottom of the eighth. However, Tony Pena got Garrett Atkins and Iannetta to strike out and pinch-hitter Ryan Spillborghs closed out the inning with a grounder to third.

Clint Barmes made it interesting by leading off the bottom of the ninth with a triple down the right field line. Willy Taveras was caught looking at the third strike for the first out, Troy Tulowitzki lined out to Drew and Helton grounded out to second to end the game.
