Zimmerman to miss 4-6 more weeks with shoulder injuryPittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman is expected to miss four to six more weeks while battling a torn labrum in his left shoulder. Zimmerman was examined by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tim Kremchek in Cincinnati on Tuesday, and the doctor confirmed Zimmerman's injury. The 23-year-old will now start rehabilitation and avoid surgery, keeping away from baseball activities for the next month.
Zimmerman hurt the shoulder while sliding headfirst in a 2-1 win over
Baltimore on May 18. He continued playing with the injury until May 25, when
he was sidelined, and placed on the disabled list on June 2. Zimmerman is batting .257 with eight home runs and 27 RBI in 50 games this season.
