Bucks sign top pick AlexanderMilwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - The Milwaukee Bucks signed forward Joe Alexander -- the team's top pick in the June 26 NBA Draft -- on Tuesday. Alexander, who was taken out of West Virginia with the eighth overall pick, is guaranteed $4.15 million over the first two years of his contract, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Under the league's scale for rookie salaries, the Bucks hold options for the
third and fourth years of the deal, at $2.3 million and $2.9 million,
respectively. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 16.9 points and 6.4 rebounds for the Mountaineers last season, and will likely be slotted in as Milwaukee's starting power forward this season. He'll join a frontcourt that includes former No. 1 overall pick Andrew Bogut and veteran forward Richard Jefferson, who was acquired from the Nets in a draft-day trade.
