Denver Nuggets 2008 Draft Preview

(Sports Network) - For the fifth straight year Denver was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. On paper the Nuggets appear to be a great team, but it hasn't worked on the court.

Guard Allen Iverson led the Nuggets in scoring (26.4 ppg) and assists (7.1 apg), while center Marcus Camby pulled down a team-best 13.1 rebounds per contest. Star forward Carmelo Anthony averaged 25.7 points, 7.4 boards and 3.4 assists.

Denver may look into trading Anthony and Camby. The deal would have to be beneficial, but the fact is that the Nuggets are not winning with the current structure of their roster.

Linas Kleiza continues to improve and should see even more playing time during the 2008-09 campaign. The 6-8 forward posted 11.1 points and 4.2 rebounds in 79 games this past season.

The Nuggets have to play defense if they hope to win in the playoffs. They will try and draft a player with a solid all-round game at No. 20. Another best player available situation.

Brandon Rush of Kansas and Rider's Jason Thompson would make sense and could be on Denver's radar.
