Garnett, Iverson earn NBA weekly honorsNew York, NY (Sports Network) - Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett and Denver Nuggets guard Allen Iverson were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the period ending April 13. Garnett, who became the first Celtic to take the honor three times in one season since Larry Bird won it four times during the 1985-86 campaign, posted averages of 19.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists in four games. Boston went 3-1 despite having little to play for after locking up the East's top seed by April 5. Garnett is averaging 19 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.4 steals in 33.1 minutes per game in this, his first season in Boston.
Iverson and the Nuggets also went 3-1, inching closer to clinching the Western
Conference's eighth and final playoff berth. The former Georgetown star scored
28.8 points and handed out 6.8 assists per game, shooting at a 53 percent
clip. Like Garnett, Iverson has taken weekly honors three times this season.
