Golden State Warriors 2008 Draft Preview

(Sports Network) - Golden State won 48 games in the 2007-08 season, and that was not good enough to get it into the playoffs for the second straight year.

The Warriors own the 14th overall pick in the first round, and No. 49 in round two. They could use help in the low post.

Point guard Baron Davis, who was the only Warrior to play in all 82 games, led the club in scoring (21.7 ppg) and assists (7.6 apg), while center Andris Biedrins grabbed a team-best 9.8 rebounds per game. Guard Monta Ellis registered 20.2 points in 81 contests.

Davis could be on the move during the offseason, while swingman Stephen Jackson, who averaged 20.1 points this past season, and forward Al Harrington could also hear their names in trade talks. The Warriors will look to lock up Biedrins and Ellis to long-term deals.

Joe Alexander of West Virginia would be a great fit if he is available at No. 14. Syracuse's Donte Green and Marreese Speights of Florida would also be solid picks. The Warriors will go with the top player left on their board with their first pick, and they are hoping it will be a big man.
