Horford, Durant earn NBA rookie honorsNew York, NY (Sports Network) - Atlanta Hawks forward Al Horford and Kevin Durant of the Seattle SuperSonics were named Eastern and Western Conference rookies of the month, respectively, for March. Horford took rookie honors in the East for the second month in a row. A 6- foot-10 post player out of Florida, Horford led all rookies in the East with 11.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in March. He recorded six double- doubles, after racking up seven in February, and tied career highs with 20 points and six assists on March 19 against the Nets, while pulling down 15 boards.
Durant, the second overall pick in last year's draft out of Texas, led all
rookies with 21.8 points per game in March. The 6-foot-9, 215-pounder poured
in 32 points on March 26 against the Wizards, and leads all rookies on the
season with 19.9 points per game.
