Iguodala leads the way as Sixers upend SonicsSeattle, WA (Sports Network) - Andre Iguodala scored 25 points to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 98-90 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics at KeyArena. Andre Miller finished with 15 points and seven assists, and Lou Williams had 19 points off the bench for the Sixers, who moved to 2-1 on their current six- game road trip. Philadelphia has also won four of five overall.
Earl Watson scored 18 points and had seven assists for Seattle, which played
without leading scorer Kevin Durant, who had a sprained left index finger.
Nick Collison finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Jeff Green chipped
in 16 points. The Sixers had held a double-digit lead in the second half, but found themselves up by just three following a Delonte West three-pointer with 2:50 left. Seattle missed its next two shots, and Williams was fouled twice. He made all four shots to give the Sixers a 93-86 lead with just under two minutes left. Collison trimmed Seattle's deficit to five on the Sonics' next trip down court. After a botched possession by each team, Iguodala drained a turnaround jumper with Green guarding to put Philadelphia ahead 95-88 with 26.9 left, giving the Sixers enough cushion to last out the win. "I was a little worried, but we made shots at the end," Philadelphia head coach Maurice Cheeks said. A Johan Petro layup with 41 seconds left put Seattle up 23-21 at the end of the first quarter, and the game remained close until the final minutes of the second. The Sixers rattled off eight straight points in the final 2:23 of the half, and Rodney Carney's two free throws to cap the run put Philadelphia up 46-34 at halftime. "Philadelphia defended better than we did for the game," Seattle head coach P.J. Carlesimo said. "We had just a horrible second quarter." The Sixers held that lead in the third quarter, and went into the fourth leading 73-62. The Sonics, however, scored three baskets midway through the stanza to briefly get back in the game. Two West jumpers sandwiched a Green three, bringing Seattle within 86-83 with 3:43 left. Game Notes The Sixers will also visit the Jazz, Lakers and Nuggets on their trip...Gordan Giricek played his first game with Philadelphia since being acquired on Saturday in a trade, and scored six points in just under 14 minutes...West finished with 13 points...The Sonics got to the line just 11 times, making nine, while the Sixers made 25-of-36 free throws.
