Nets' Carter has successful surgery


East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - New Jersey Nets swingman Vince Carter underwent successful arthroscopic right ankle surgery on Wednesday.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Martin O'Malley at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.

Carter is expected to begin rehab in a couple weeks, and is slated to be fully recovered in time for training camp.

The 31-year-old played in 76 games for New Jersey last season, averaging 21.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. An eight-time All-Star, Carter has averaged 23.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists over 10 NBA season with the Raptors and Nets.
