Nets ink first two picksEast Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - The New Jersey Nets signed their first two picks of the 2008 NBA Draft on Wednesday, including their top selection, Brook Lopez. The Nets took the Stanford product with the 10th overall pick after Lopez averaged 19.3 points and pulled down 8.2 rebounds last season. In only two seasons at Stanford, Lopez also tallied 101 blocked shots. His twin brother Robin was taken five picks later by the Suns.
Ryan Anderson, who was also a first-round pick with the 21st selection,
signed his contract with the Nets Wednesday as well. Anderson led the Pac-10
in scoring last season while posting 21.1 points per game with California.
The forward also became the first Cal player ever to register 600 points and
300 boards in the same season.
