Raptors, Garbajosa part waysToronto, ON (Sports Network) - The Toronto Raptors and forward Jorge Garbajosa have agreed to a deal to buy out the remaining year left on the 30-year-old's contract. Financial terms were not disclosed. "After a long, difficult and sometimes emotional process stemming from a traumatic injury to a key player, it was concluded that parting ways was the best thing for both Jorge and the Raptors organization," said Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo. "We wish Jorge nothing but the best with his basketball future."
Garbajosa suffered a serious leg injury in March 2007 that caused him to miss
the final two months of the season. He finished the season eighth among
rookies with 8.5 points per game and was named to the All-Rookie first team. The six-foot-nine power forward averaged eight points and 4.7 rebounds per game in 74 career games over two seasons for the Raptors.
