Report: Donaghy bet on 100-plus games he workedNew York, NY (Sports Network) - Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy reportedly bet on more than 100 games he worked. The New York Daily News reported the details late Friday night of a letter filed by U.S. Attorneys in Brooklyn Federal Court. Donaghy has pleaded guilty to passing inside info and betting recommendations, and faces a maximum of 20 years in prison. The Daily News said, however, that the 41-year-old former ref will likely face a more lenient penalty when he is sentenced on July 14, due to his cooperation with federal authorities.
Donaghy placed wagers for 30 to 40 game per season starting in 2003, according
to the Daily News. For each winning pick he was paid $5,000, the story said.
