Report: Mavs' Kidd to be on U.S. Olympic teamDallas, TX (Sports Network) - Mavericks point guard Jason Kidd will be named to the United States Olympic Basketball team, according to the Dallas Morning News. The newspaper reported that the 35-year-old Kidd, who averaged 10.8 points and 10.1 assists in 80 games with the Mavs and New Jersey Nets last season, received a call earlier this week to confirm he would be on the 12-man roster.
Kidd's teams have a perfect 38-0 record in international competition, Managing director of USA Basketball Jerry Colangelo refused to disclose the makeup of the team until it's announced on Monday June 22, but spoke highly of the nine-time All-Star. "Jason is a great candidate to be one of the 12 because he is a leader, he is the ultimate distributor at the point guard position, and he has great relationships with many of the guys who will be on this team," Colangelo told the Morning News. "If you had a ledger sheet and put down the plusses and minuses, its pretty overwhelming on the plus side."
