Timberwolves extend qualifying offer to GomesMinneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Timberwolves extended qualifying offers to three restricted free agents forwards on Monday, including forward Ryan Gomes. Gomes is coming off his best season, averaging 12.6 points and 5.8 rebounds after being part of a six-player trade which brought him over from Boston last summer.
The Timberwolves also extended offers to Chris Richard and Craig Smith.
Richard played in 52 games last season, while Smith has averaged 8.4 points
and 4.8 rebounds since Minnesota selected him with the 41st pick in the 2007
NBA Draft. By extending these offers, the Timberwolves now have the right to match the terms and conditions of any offer from another team to the three players. Teams are allowed to begin negotiations with free agents on July 1, but cannot officially sign contracts until July 9.
