Alabama's Hendrix to enter NBA DraftTuscaloosa, AL (Sports Network) - Alabama junior forward Richard Hendrix announced Wednesday that he will enter his name in the 2008 NBA Draft, though he will not sign with an agent, allowing him the option of returning to school for his senior season. The 6-foot-9, 255-pound Hendrix, a product of Athens (AL) High School, averaged 17.8 points and 10.8 rebounds this season for the Tide, who struggled to a 17-16 record. That included a 5-11 mark in the Southeastern Conference.
"After the season, I had to come to a decision to make with my family and the
coaches," Hendrix said. "I want to put my name in the 2008 NBA Draft. I also
came to the decision that as of right now, I do not plan to sign with an agent
as of right now. I'm going into this procedure with the highest hopes and the
best of expectations." An All-SEC first team selection, Hendrix has until June 16 to withdraw his name from consideration, provided he does not sign with an agent in the coming months. He is on track to graduate in May with a degree in communications, which would make him the first player in the program's history to do so in three years.
